Rock Chairs

During this exercise we explored digital modeling by 3D scanning a randomly formed object, modifying it using software and then re-materializing it via 3D printing. We began by crumpling up a sheet of white A4 paper, which we than scanned using the Autodesk 123D Catch App on our mobile phones.

The digital model was then imported into Rhino and a seating surface was cut into the mesh geometry to create a chair.

The resulting 3D models were printed in differently colored ABS plastic.
